LaRochelle Cement Tiles For A Beautiful Deck

A Beautiful Deck

Cement tiles are beautiful in outdoor spaces, like decks and patios. Just look at the plazas and cafes of Europe, South America and North Africa. Through wear and tear and heat and rain, these cement tiles retain their vibrant looks. So they’re ideal for your outdoor space.  Just take a look at this gorgeous deck that a client recently installed.

A field of our La Rochelle cement tiles, which features a star surrounded by an elaborate strapwork pattern, brings a touch of tradition to this spacious outdoor area. In our opinion, the combination of cream, mustard, tan, coffee, black, grey is particularly stunning against a lush green landscape. But we’ve also seen it work in modern, industrial spaces. Interestingly, this is the same tile that covers the patio of Bestia, one of Los Angeles most popular and delicious Italian restaurants. Located in downtown’s Arts District, it’s a distinct touch of beauty in the former factory neighborhood. Certainly, there it receives a lot of foot traffic. To our mind it’s held up beautifully.

Before And After: Cluny Cement Tile Floor To The Rescue

Before and After

Interior design firm Jette Creative shared this before and after on Instagram. With a lot of work it went from frightening to fantastic! White walls, butcher block countertops, leather handles, a mix of open shelving and cabinetry are a delight in this San Clemente kitchen. Finishing off this new, improved space? Why Granada Tile’s Cluny cement tile in crisp black and white. The pattern’s curlicues add a decorative, fun touch to an otherwise stark space.

Using Cluny cement tile, Jette Creative renovated this San Clemente kitchen

Before, brown cabinetry, flowered wallpaper and ornate tiles, made the space feel dull and a little too 70s. Dark and uninviting, it needed some major work to bring it into the 21st century. Jette Creative rolled up their sleeves and dived in.Using Cluny cement tile, Jette Creative renovated this San Clemente kitchen

After, the same space is barely recognizable. While not much has changed in terms of layout, keeping the cabinetry simple brightens it up. Painting it white makes the space shine. Texture, in the form of the wood counters, the leather handles, subway tile, the red knobs on the stove and a classic still life, adds layers. As a consequence, the room is brought to life. Finally, the cement tile floor ties everything all together. If you’re inspired by this room to try something similar in your home, you can order samples of this in stock cement tile in our cement tile shop. or play around with our interactive catalogue. A Playful Bathroom Floor Using Tunis Cement Tiles

A Playful Bathroom Floor

For the bathroom floor of a renovated 1890s Chicago townhouse, architect Rebecca Liddy of Kulinski and Rappe Architects, was hoping to find tile that would be appropriate to the period. But she also wanted something that was bright and fun for the family’s four year old daughter. She turned to Granada Tile, choosing our Tunis Cement Tile to give the small room a playful spin. Moreover, our cement tiles are the ideal choice for a bathroom floor. The tile is smooth and not slippery. Perfect for little scampering feet!

This warm geometric tile was designed by Granada Tile for a client who wanted a pattern that resembled a field of stars seen from above. It was christened Tunis because the pattern felt similar to the bronze fretwork seen in that city.

“I love my 1939 adobe home and our renovation. Grenada Tile helped me with our kitchen. There are so many wonderful and vintage- feeling designs and color waves to use! I loved working on a custom design. The team stays with you until you get it right. And their love for the product is infectious. If I didn’t have amazing original floors, I’d work with Grenada to tile them all. This is not decor. This is creative expression disguised as decor. I hope you agree that the results speak for themselves. Thank you, from a very happy customer.”

She chose Granada Tile’s Toscano cement tiles for the bathroom floor. Mustard, black and yellow nod to the room’s many influences, elements and colors. The vintage claw foot bath, the industrial framing around the shower and toilet rooms, the crystal chandelier from Pottery Barn. The geometry of the concrete tile pattern finishes the room perfectly.  It’s a little bit rustic, a little bit glamorous, a little bit industrial and whole lot of appealing!   Granada Tiles' Toscano cement tiles tie the rustic, glamorous and industrial elements of this bathroom into a stylish whole

How Backsplash Tiles Will Improve the Look and Feel of Your Kitchen

Kitchen Backsplash Tiles

Kitchens are the heart of the home and, for most homeowners, it’s important that they are just as lovely as they are functional. Guests congregate in the kitchen, holidays are centered around them, and much of daily living takes place there. A kitchen sustains us and provides us with many wonderful memories, so it should be a place you love to spend time in.

One of the easiest and most inexpensive ways you can completely change the look and feel of your kitchen is with the backsplash. All it takes is a different color and style and you’ve instantly upgraded your kitchen. When searching for the right material for your backsplash revamp, pay attention to cement tiles. They come in a virtually endless array of colors, patterns, and designs, and allow you to turn your vision into a reality, no matter what it looks like.

Backsplash Tiles Make a Kitchen Look Bigger and Brighter

If you have a dark kitchen that lacks adequate sunshine, then a light colored backsplash can immediately brighten up the space and make it look larger. Light tones like white, ivory and cream reflect light and make a small or dark space appear more open, from floor to ceiling. Just changing the color of the backsplash can drastically improve the look and feel of your kitchen and turn it into a brighter, airier space versus a dark uninviting one.

Backsplash Tiles Add Strength and Structural Integrity

Kitchens are well used every single day. They experience plenty of wear and tear and a backsplash can help protect the walls of your kitchen by acting as a durable buffer. The areas behind the sink and counters often get splashed with water and other liquids and food items, which can cause hard-to-clean stains and even lead to water damage and mold. Prevent scratches and stains on the walls with a well-sealed cement tile backsplash, and avoid serious damage down the road.

Backsplash Tiles Create a Stylish Focal Point

If your kitchen is lacking style, you can instantly improve a plain, boring space with a new tiled backsplash in a fresh color and pattern. An aqua backsplash tile adds uplifting color, and a series of floral cement tiles add drama, elegance, and style and act as a focal point. Tile the entire wall behind the kitchen counter, only up to the cabinets, or tile a fun design just behind the stove and up the wall. Even a small amount of cement tile on the backsplash will take the style to a whole new level and add a perfect punch of color and flair to an otherwise plain space.

Backsplash Tiles Make Clean Up Easy

Tiles are one of the easiest materials to keep clean because all it takes is a swipe with a damp sponge or cloth, and most splatters and marks are gone. No more embarrassing spots or stains, and you can have your kitchen cleaned and ready to present to guests in a snap!

Backsplashes Can Change the Theme of Your Kitchen

If there’s a particular style you want for your kitchen, such as a Fixer Upper inspired farmhouse or an eclectic bohemian style, a backsplash might be all it takes to achieve the look you’re going for. Crisp white tiles look classic yet charming and farmhouse-worthy, coupled with a farmhouse sink, of course. Posh black and white mosaic or geometric tiles ooze elegance. Even if you don’t change the color of the walls or replace the cabinets, a refresh of the tile backsplash can completely change the theme and style of your kitchen.

Backsplash Tiles Hide Wall Damage and Imperfect Areas

If your kitchen countertops don’t sit perfectly flush against the wall, a tiled backsplash can hide any discrepancies nicely. If there are any scuff marks or damage to your kitchen wall, a backsplash of cement tiles can hide these not-so pretty areas and prevent anymore damage from happening.

Backsplash Cement Tiles Add Perceived Value

Cement tiles look beautiful and expensive, and ooze style. Even though they’ve been around for centuries, cement tiles evoke a certain high-end style that seems only available to celebrity homes, designers, and magazine-worthy spaces. However, cement tiles are affordable and practical, and can add a serious boost to the overall look and feel of your kitchen. Cement tiles make your kitchen look effortlessly chic and add a boost of perceived value to your entire kitchen.

Cement tiles are the perfect choice for your kitchen backsplash if you want to completely change the look and feel of your kitchen with one cost-effective upgrade.

Granada Tile offers one of the widest selections of top grade cement tiles for the kitchen backsplash, with many beautiful styles to choose from as well as the opportunity for homeowners to personalize and customize their own designs. A Dramatic Bathroom Focal Point

Use Cement Tile To Create A Focal Point

In a recent post on Design*Sponge, interior designer Regan Baker suggested 10 ways to infuse your space with color. She included this beautiful image of a project she designed. She also shared some advice on intriguing new ways to use tile:

2. Tile in Unexpected Places – “Sometimes, a kitchen or bathroom becomes more intriguing based on where you choose to put your tile. Extending a simple tile backsplash in the kitchen to cover the stove range hood will keep the design clean and fluid. In a bathroom, create an accent wall with a patterned, colored tile, while using a neutral tile for the rest of the bathroom.” By keeping the rest of the space a neutral white, bold patterns like the Granada tiles on the wall and a rug by HD Buttercup can exist in harmony.
