Get The Look: A Black And White Bathroom Floor

Get The Look: A Black And White Bathroom Floor

We love a black and white floor. And, as cement tile fanatics, we’re always scouring the web for gorgeous concrete tile patterns. Here’s one we recently spotted over on Rue Magazine. In a simple bathroom, a patterned tile takes the space from blah to beautiful. In this case the classic swirling design is a welcome contrast to the severe, space modern look of the rest of the room. In fact, it almost acts as a rug. And furthermore, choosing black and white keeps it within the boundaries of being a classic. We think it brings the room to life!

Actually, whether in vivid colors or classic black and white, cement tiles are a great choice for a bathroom. Incidentally, they’re less slippery than porcelain tiles. In addition, they’re more durable. Want proof of how they stand up to water? Just check out the great outdoor spaces found all over Europe, South American and North Africa. Rain has not lessened their impact. To get the look of this bathroom floor, chose our Sofia cement tile. It’s so close as to almost be an exact match.

If you’re inspired by this room to try something similar in your home, play around with our interactive catalogue. (Pick your favorite pattern and see how it looks in other colors. We guarantee you’ll have fun!) And, of course, we’re here to help you make a decision. By the same token, you can call us at 213-788-4238. We’d feel happy to help you decide which of our encaustic tile designs would be perfect for your project. We’re sure you’ll fall in love with your new cement tiles before the grout dries.

A Playful Bathroom Floor Using Tunis Cement Tiles

A Playful Bathroom Floor

For the bathroom floor of a renovated 1890s Chicago townhouse, architect Rebecca Liddy of Kulinski and Rappe Architects, was hoping to find tile that would be appropriate to the period. But she also wanted something that was bright and fun for the family’s four year old daughter. She turned to Granada Tile, choosing our Tunis Cement Tile to give the small room a playful spin. Moreover, our cement tiles are the ideal choice for a bathroom floor. The tile is smooth and not slippery. Perfect for little scampering feet!

This warm geometric tile was designed by Granada Tile for a client who wanted a pattern that resembled a field of stars seen from above. It was christened Tunis because the pattern felt similar to the bronze fretwork seen in that city.

She chose Granada Tile’s Toscano cement tiles for the bathroom floor. Mustard, black and yellow nod to the room’s many influences, elements and colors. The vintage claw foot bath, the industrial framing around the shower and toilet rooms, the crystal chandelier from Pottery Barn. The geometry of the concrete tile pattern finishes the room perfectly.  It’s a little bit rustic, a little bit glamorous, a little bit industrial and whole lot of appealing!   Granada Tiles' Toscano cement tiles tie the rustic, glamorous and industrial elements of this bathroom into a stylish whole

A Dramatic Bathroom Focal Point

Use Cement Tile To Create A Focal Point

In a recent post on Design*Sponge, interior designer Regan Baker suggested 10 ways to infuse your space with color. She included this beautiful image of a project she designed. She also shared some advice on intriguing new ways to use tile:

2. Tile in Unexpected Places – “Sometimes, a kitchen or bathroom becomes more intriguing based on where you choose to put your tile. Extending a simple tile backsplash in the kitchen to cover the stove range hood will keep the design clean and fluid. In a bathroom, create an accent wall with a patterned, colored tile, while using a neutral tile for the rest of the bathroom.” By keeping the rest of the space a neutral white, bold patterns like the Granada tiles on the wall and a rug by HD Buttercup can exist in harmony.

Ten years and counting, Fez cement tile is still inspiring great design. Arguably, it works as well in bohemian outdoor spaces as it does in modern bathrooms. Take for example, the modern bathroom in the March issue of San Francisco magazine. Smooth white walls, a circular window and sleek shower niches form a sophisticated pairing with Fez cement tile’s exuberant graphic pattern. Designed by Mason St. Peter, the look is decidedly modern while at the same time utterly timeless.
