How To Add Traditional Cement Tiles To A Modern Home
Dwell Magazine recently shared some examples of how to add traditional materials, like cement tile, to modern homes. Coincidentally, they shared this incredible bathroom created by Barbara Bestor, one of our favorite designers and architects. This vibrant space highlights both our Serengeti and our Santander cement tiles. Our Serengeti cement tiles in black and white cover the floor. And, additionally, our Santander cement tiles, in black and white, with a touch of blue, are used for the bathroom’s backsplash. In our opinion, the long history of this traditional material underscores why it’s the ideal material for modern spaces. In fact, cement tiles have been beautifying the cafes and plazas of European, South American and North African cities for centuries. Consequently, they’ve proven their durability through time and weather. So they’ll stand up to the normal wear and tear of today’s bathrooms and kitchens and still retain their incredible beauty. Moreover, they’re easy to care for and, when wet, less slippery than porcelain tile. Incidentally, many people have remarked how silky-smooth the texture of cement tile feels on bare feet. We think that’s a great bonus for a bathroom!
