Our Values - Granada Cement and Concrete Tile
Granada Tile cares about the environment and giving back to our communities.
Granada Tiles are crafted in Nicaragua in Central America, a land of spectacular natural beauty and biodiversity. Preserving that beauty is at the core of the company’s values and practices, and Granada Tile is committed to managing nature's resources responsibly.
Granada Tile incorporates numerous eco-friendly processes on a day-to-day basis including:
> Sun drying and curing all tiles instead of using an energy intensive kiln
> Recycling all water and using it again in the manufacturing process
> Salvaging and recycling metal molds
> Using hydraulic energy sparingly and only as needed
> Using local materials, such as sand, soap stone and limestone
> Shipping via both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts
Granada Tile is also deeply aware of the health and safety hazards associated with landfills. By taking the following steps, Granada Tile minimizes impact on landfills:
> Using a production process that creates virtually no waste
> Sweeping up and reusing all loose cement
> Breaking up and reusing any tiles that don’t pass quality control
> Using all leftover sand for onsite construction projects
> Packing tiles in recyclable cardboard boxes
> Producing tiles that are long lasting and can be broken up and reused
Granada Tile strives to reduce any environmental impact and does not use toxins in manufacturing processes. Examples of this include:
> Achieving slip resistance without the use of acid chemicals
> Using pigments from naturally occurring iron oxides
> Using no lead in its products, which can remain in the environment for decades, and poison drinking water
Granada Tile recognizes the importance and need to contribute to an equitable and ecologically sustainable economy. Granada Tile proudly supports these organizations:
