Behind The Cement Tile: Khufu

Who would think that a simple geometric of triangles could be so inviting?  The graphic pattern that is Khufu is at once cutting-edge contemporary, old-timey nostalgic and — as rendered in the standard mustard and blue color way — mid-70s mod.  As used by architect Barbara Bestor in Los Angeles’ Beachwood Cafe, nestled in the Hollywood Hills just below the iconic sign, it’s a modern nod to the ladies and gentlemen of the canyon.  Yellow walls, that giant Chinese paper lantern, vintage plywood chairs — it’s a look that easily translates to a kitchen…maybe yours?
