A Sofia Cement Tile Bathroom And A Happy Cement Tile Customer

When Doris Parker sent us the pictures of the bathroom she and her husband had done using the Sofia cement tiles that they’d ordered from us, we were delighted!  Of course we were curious to hear the full design story and how she came to choose Granada Tile’s Sofia cement tileHow did you find Granada and how did you figure out which pattern you were going to choose? Lindsey Boudreaux of Shotgun Double LLC, our designer, recommended that we try a patterned floor and she sent me some pictures from Pinterest and Houzz of some concrete tile installed in small bathrooms like ours.  I went online looking for some cement tiles that were “in stock” in the green and red color palette we’d chosen.  I really liked the Sofia cement tiles plus the tiles came within a few weeks.  That timing was crucial for us. Why had your designer decided on concrete or cement tiles rather than on porcelain? Lindsey specializes in small spaces and, as you can probably tell from the photos, our bathroom is not very big.  Her thinking was that even if the concrete tiles were a little bit more expensive, there wasn’t that much floor space so what the heck!  We were unsure about doing a brightly patterned floor like that — although we’d seen them in the Mediterranean and loved them — but she encouraged us, assuring us that a big pattern in a small space works really well.  I trusted her judgement. We agree!  A small space like a bathroom is a great place to have fun with color and pattern. One of the other things that I found out, after we had the cement tile floor in and sealed and the heated under-flooring installed, was that concrete tile feels really good on the feet when it’s warm.  It’s just an amazing feeling.  It’s almost like velvet.  it’s great!  I love it!  Also, it’s not slippery at all, even when it’s wet. So it turned out to be a great choice.  I love it!  I just love it! What’s the reaction been from other people? The contractor thought they were awesome and the tiler, the guy who actually put in the floor, was very impressed.  He hadn’t worked with concrete tile very much before and he had to go through the instructions on how to install and seal it but they both thought it was really great.  Coincidentally I was in San Antonio recently.  There’s an area called the Pearl, which is an old brewery and they have concrete tiles on the floor of the stable and the bathroom. My friend made a point of showing them to me and they’re just gorgeous.  They’re old but they’ve held up so well.  So that’s another good thing about cement tiles.  So we’re really happy.  I love that I got it so quickly and the service has been wonderful and the cement tile has all these wonderful qualities I didn’t even know about. Thanks for sharing pictures of your bathroom, Doris!
