It’s no secret that we here at Granada Tile love architect Barbara Bestor. Bestor feels the same way about us and about our concrete tiles, especially our Fez encaustic tile design which she first used in Los Angeles coffee shop, Silver Lake’s Intelligentsia Coffee, still one of the most Instagrammed spots in Los Angeles. In a new project, for photographer Dewey Nicks and his wife Stephanie, beautifully photographed by Dewey for this month’s C Magazine, Granada Tile’s Fez cement tiles from our Echo Collection covers the floor of the master bathroom in their Carpenteria home to stunning effect. Amplifying the concrete tile’s bright blue, matching vanities in a complementary hue.
“We wanted to be able to take bicycles, paddleboards and kayaks in and out of the house—to have a place that sand could come into—so, almost like a garage,” says Dewey. No wonder Bestor chose our concrete tile. The hardy durable material with the feel of silk can stand up to whatever life — and a surf-loving family — can throw at it and come out looking beautiful. Now wonder Bestor uses it for so many projects — like Intelligentsia and Hollywood’s Beachwood Cafe — that see a lot of wear and tear.
